Selenite’s Strength in Vulnerability stands virile yet made stronger by transparently displaying its imperfections and owning its brittle vulnerabilities. Keeping our vulnerabilities hidden breeds unhealthy mechanisms of coping, like anger and disconnection, much like that of society’s current male archetype.

With a phallic trapezoid pyramid reaching upward, balanced by Selenite - origin Selene, the Greek Goddess of the Moon on top - this sculpture emphasizes the importance of achieving balance in male and female energies, even in a predominantly male form.

A steam-bent zebra wood and steel structure frame a citrine geode cradled in leather. The geode’s back has been reinforced and stylized with a composite texture, like that of an ancient egg shell.

Gaia’s Womb is framed by a vaginal form that compassionately cradles this mineral creation, a symbol of Earth’s life giving. Gaia, the original mother to us all, has bared, supported, and nourished all of life since our genesis.

Geodes form when hot gas bubbles emerge from the depths of Earth’s mantle. As magma cools, it solidifies as an empty shell of igneous rock. Over time, different minerals will flow inside and form a crust of crystal formations on its inner surface.

This magnificent geode is a display of how minerals play an essential role in the genesis and existence of life, and thanks to Earth’s vast mineral richness, we exist today.

A convex shaped Brazilian Amethyst mounted on a faceted Chechen wood base with gold leaf accents.

Amethyst is a quartz crystal that has been revered throughout history for different reasons. The Greeks, for its sobering and purifying effects, the Chinese, for the attraction of prosperity, and as a symbol of royalty and high clergy in Christian and Catholic religions.

Vaquita, our late wild cat, followed us on every adventure, from mountain climbing to portaging. She truly had 9 lives: once it took 7 hours to dig her out of a mountain side, and somehow she only broke her hip after a 30-story balcony fall. A confrontation with a pack of coyotes was her final stance, what shamans call the cleanest karmic way to go, consumed in the cycle of life.

Vaquita’s spirit taught me so much through her deep stare. An imprint I will never forget. Years past and she still visits the corners of my eyes, ready to pounce and play

Sabia Rapaz (Wise Bird of Prey) lives at the central communal table of a cottage. Sabia Rapaz calls for protection, care, and foresight for a family in transition into new paradigms.

Sabia Rapaz is an homage to Marvin, my late father-in-law. Around the time of his passing, an owl would perch low on a wall in our backyard with fearless, confident, and deep piercing eyes. We then saw four hawks lined up on poles as we entered his funeral. Later that week, an Osprey would circle over us at the beach where we grieved.

Whether through messengers, omens, divine connection, or pure observation of nature, I feel connected to Marvin’s spirit when I encounter a Rapaz. I sense his wisdom, intuition, guidance, and love.

This piece was made for Linda, Marv’s ‘Sweetums’.

The “Chacana” or “Inka Cross,” beyond representing the southern cross constellation, possesses many layers of symbolism. The four quadrants are: the cycle of life, the animal spirit world, human values and the labour system.

This deep symbolism was a foundation for the Andean people’s way of life. Unfortunately in modern day Peru, these values feel lost, and this piece is to serve as a reminder of these powerful value systems that still ripples through the ancient lands of my home country.

An agate slice suspended by a leather strap and brass hardware.

Agate forms inside the voids left in volcanic or plutonic igneous rock. Over thousands of years silica rich water flows through the voids slowly forming microcrystalline fibrous formations that end up layering the void. Each layer IS composed of a slightly different mix of elements therefore creating an array of light-refracting veils.

Whether it be planets, humans, or onions, layers serve as an opportunity for complexity, protection, and healing.

This crystal hangs magnificent like the moon, meant to remind us of the significance of our interconnected layered structures, whether deep or shallow.
