Agate forms inside the voids left in volcanic or plutonic igneous rock. Over thousands of years silica rich water flows through the voids slowly forming microcrystalline fibrous formations that end up layering the void. Each layer IS composed of a slightly different mix of elements therefore creating an array of light-refracting veils.

Whether it be planets, humans, or onions, layers serve as an opportunity for complexity, protection, and healing.
